Lake Powell

is 132 miles long with numerous branches and fjords. After Lake Mead, it is the largest man made lake in USA. No photos of our "adventure" today because we were afraid to take a camera on a kayak trip. We rented a double Ocean Kayak situpon and left at 8 AM to explore the nearby Wahweap area. All went well for the first 2 hours. We stopped in several places, got out and looked around, had a swim in the cool water and were enjoying ourselves. At 10 AM we turned around to go back just as the wind began to increase. We paddled furiously into it and the increasing waves. After a strenuous hour we reached the beach where a lot of people were camping. We borrowed a cell phone and called the rental shop which sent a rescue boat. We had a speedboat ride a LONG way back. Whew! Sand was blowing across the road and it blew all afternoon. We are tired!
